On cask at Three Stags Heads, Wardlow Mires - Dark brown body, thin white head. Lots of malt and toffee in the nose, a bit of toasted nuts too. The body is a little thinner than the others tonight, but not too much of a problem. Taste has a nice little bittersweet kick at the end. Not bad.

7th July 2012 saw my first visit to The Old Post Office in Birmingham where I had two hand pulled pints of real ale: this being the second one. Dark looking brew; with a good head that produced some impressive lacing on the glass sides. Malts all the way with this beer, roasted/toasted and baked; sweetish but not overly so, there is an undercurrent of hop bitterness throughout the beer and it’s all the better for it. Tastes stronger than the 3.9% ABV which I always think is a good thing: enjoyed it.

Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 08. It’s funny, I could see what people were saying about this on the Saturday, but my rating from the Friday still stands. Chestnut colour with thin bubbly off white head. Yep, you get the amarillos on the aroma, some caramel. Fairly watery in mouth, not a lot of condition. Some good amarillo on finish. OK, but just lacks some body.
