Medium to good, dense cream to light-tan head over very deep-brown beer. End of bottle serious yeast. Creamy nose with some chocolate; perfumey, dark malts if not roasted. Suikerbonen , thick green leaves. Bitterish, with bitter and sweet chocolate, and some roastiness after all. Pretty dry, despite some general sweetness. Again leafy flavours, herbal. At least medium bodied, quite slick, well carbonated. If this is really 10.5% ABV, the alcohol remains miraculously hidden. Certainly not half bad. Drinks away dangerously, but it is not really a festive ale, nor an I. Stout.

11/IV/14 - 33cl bottle from De Hopduvel (Gent) @ home - BB: 28/IX/15 (2014-363)
Clear dark purple brown beer, creamy beige head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: caramel, dried fruits, raisins, sugary, hint of banana, some cocoa powder. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body, thick texture. Taste: very chocolaty start, then alcohol in the nose becomes powerful while drinking, lots of overripe banana, bit sour, dusty, little chemical. Aftertaste: lots of banana, caramel, sugar, way too boozy to be really enjoyable, mocha, bit sourish.

33 cl. bottle sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2013. Dark reddish with a touch brown, tanned head. Nose carries a touch mould, fermenting dark fruits, sweet spices, caramel, pretty sweet. Taste is bitter upfront, something slightly upfront, bitter overripe fruits, herbal, touch dark honey, caramel, pretty sweet. Thicker body, okay but something feels slightly off here for me. RIS & not BSA currently for style?
