Bottle thanks to Brian for the share! Pours murky mahogany with a small head that dissipates pretty quickly. Some floaties evident in the bottom. Aroma is very malty, toffee, caramel, molasses, dark fruits, with some peat as well. Flavor is about the same, lightly smoked, very malty. Medium sweet. Medium body. Pretty good, may be past its prime at this point.

Süßlich-vollmundig, sehr gut! Viele Dank an DerDoppelbock für das Bier! 7/12/11/12/12/11

I received this in trade, but can’t remember who from, If you sent it to me thanks for the opportunity. Pours a dark brown almost black in color with a decent tan head that fades to small lacing fairly quickly. Sweet malty nose that fills the senses with chocolate and caramel up front and a faint smoke and peat in the background. Taste of dried plums, raisins, a bit of chocolate, and some distant smoke. Medium to thin body disappoints a little. High carbonation, slick mouthfeel. Overall decent wee heavy, a tad thin on the body, but definitely one I wish I had more of.

Bottle thanks to ericandersnavy. Pours really dark brown with no significant head. Smells of smokey dark fruit. Medium plus body with very mild carbonation. Flavor is earthy, peaty smokey and something pruney. Almost like barrel aged. Definitely not sticky. A great beer.

Small yellowish head over blackish beer with a foxy-burgundy sheen. Rich cakey nose, with fresh pipetobacco, felt, ivy. Sweet, with a mild roasted bitterness, and again, tobacco flavour. I would agree to the peat, and maybe a hint of a wee dram, but as to coffee? Maybe some dark grapes, too. Thick, voluptuous MF, velvety and yet tongue-tingling. Very nice beer, if a tad rich for a ’simple’ Scotch ale. This is a 90/-, sirrah! Many, many thanks to Fly!

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a rim of beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of whisky - actually very sweet. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of whiskey as well as medium notes of wood, caramel, dried fruits, figs, prunes, apricot, and wood, leading to a dry finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye, shared with ilovedarkbeer. Pours with a small, light brown head that turns into a ring and leaves good lacing. Very dark brown body. Aroma of scotch and booze (port), peat, caramel and raisins. Taste is smokey with caramel, peat, but kind of watery in the finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Syrupy mouthfeel, light carbonation.

Thanks to AMC3000 for the bottle. Pours a very dark brown with a small light tan head that diminsihes quickly and leaves a ring of head around the glass. The aroma is a sweet caramel malt with dark fruits. Decent lacing on the glass. The taste is roasted malt with coffee and spicy finish. Waited a long time for this beer and was definitely worth the wait. An impressive Scotch Ale from Saint Arnold.
