Bottle from the winter sampler pack. Dark brown, red when held up to the natural light. Good, lacing head. Sweet malt aroma that I can smell two feet away from the glass, and as i get closer, it has a full aroma of malt, light to moderate roasted grain aromas, some red wine, which I often perceive in Baltic porter. Flavor is sweet, a little fruit, roasted flavors, a little more wine here and some fruit. As it warms to room temperature, this is starting to remind me of a malty Belgian dubbel. Good palate. One of Schell’s better beers.
