At dag van de geuze 2023. pours clear, dark ruby red. Scent is funky, intense boiled cherry, overripe and funky. Bit acetic, nailpolish. Taste is intense, burning acidity ( acetic, mostly) heavy and thick, overripe boiled cherry. Less off-putting than their straight lambic, but still far from great.

The basis for the commercial Belle-Vue fruit beers, at least that is what they claim (I have a spontaneous distrust towards claims made by large industrial breweries). The pinkishly orange colour seems to give away the fact that colorants are added later in the process to arrive at Belle-Vue Kriek; aroma and taste hardly reveal any krieks at all. Fruity lambic yeastiness is present abudantly though, as well as a soft lactic acidity; gentle basic character (’malse lambiek’). Contrary to the other kriekenlambics I’ve had, and I’ve had them from every Belgian lambic brewery, this one seems to contain only a very limited percentage of sour cherries, if any at all. It was nevertheless an interesting experience gaining access to the basic lambic of the most industrial brewery of them all.

Light, deep cherry colour. Phenols and light acetic woody character on the nose. Sweetish palate for style but with a late, sharp twang. HInts of citrus and spice add nuance.

Draught @ 17th Weekend of Spontaneous Fermentation 2008.Clear medium red color with a virtually none appearance, virtually none lancing head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy cherry sourness, cask wood, oak. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy acidic - sour with a long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is flat. (240508)

Draught. Pinkish red colour, not much head. Aroma is cherries and sourness. Flavour is the same along with some strawberries and some interesting bitterness. Feels artificial, and like meandsim said more strawberry than cherries...

Draught No head, murky pinky body, doesn’t look like a kriekenlambiek, more like kriekenlambiek mixtured with an ordinary lambic. Nose of cask wood and flowers. Lightly sweet, moderately acidic initial flavour. Moderately acidic finish. As Joris does, I wonder how they manage to make a (red) Kriek-Lambic out of this, but I forgot they still have to add the sirup or something like that in the end.

(draught of course) Pink-peach colour, fully hazy; just a rim of bubbles. No fruit in the nose whatsoever. Maybe a touch of rhubarb - and some lemon/wood. This tastes nice. Of peaches, maybe. Of soft lactic acid, and of a mild lambic. Just NOTHING of cherries. What’s this supposed to be? Medium bodied, more for a lambic, but not with the filling of fruit. I cannot follow. I’ve had BV kriekenlambic that just exploded with sour cherries. This - this is some educated (exception made for the funkiness, then)ladiesdrink. A good one, but all the same...
