Bottle from Kris Wines at home. Very dark brown/black colour with golden brown bubbly head. Aroma is chocolate and roasty, lots of malt, touch of cream and something savoury, almost meaty. Bit of booziness too. Smells much stronger than 5%! Taste is chocolate, roasty malt, slight bitterness, bit of smoke. Some hoppy fruitiness too, can taste the orange. Quite unusual. Pretty thick and quite smooth. Nice long lasting roasty finish. Pretty nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Anastasia's on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. 17/4/2018. Cask at the Ale House, Chelmsford. Pours very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, dark fruits and berries. Medium sweetness, quite light roasted bitterness. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Not spectacular, but a solid performing stout.

Bottle from Co-op, Chobham. Creamy coffee aroma, if not overly strong. Dark and glossy. Thick beige head, in fact it was a real gusher when the bottle was first opened. Initial medium-heavy bitterness, which carries on through into the finish. Super tart berries and liquorice. However the promised coffee and chocolate are there in the undertow. Light-medium bodied. Some slickness to it but somewhat thine After the initial splurge of froth the carbonation is somewhat subdued. Astringent finish. A good stout, but not better than that. Could do with more body to it.
