A modern classic.

Award-winning golden ale with zesty fruit flavours and a rounded, hoppy finish. By far the best selling beer at Cheddar Ales.

Brewed using the highest quality Pale ale, Maris Otter, Wheat and Crystal malts and hopped with a blend of English Challenger and Slovenian Styrian Goldings whole hops.

Fresh bottle from this Somerset brewery, thanks to Jeremy! Modern English golden ale with thick and largely stable, eggshell-white, very moussy head and lightly hazy, warm and pure 'old gold' robe, the diffuse haze perturbed by strings of small-bubbled sparkling. Delicately hoppy aroma, impressions of lemon blossoms, cheese crackers, dried out starfruit slices, soap, grapefruit peel, cream, fresh camomile flowers, even 'green' hop oil straight from the hop cone. Cleanly fruity onset as is custom for an English ale, hints of green apple peel and unripe banana, very lightly sweetish and subtly sourish, lively carbonated but in an elegant, small-bubbled way, supple and bit soapy mouthfeel. Dry crackers and dried white bread malt body, sweetish with a thin creaminess to it (perhaps a last remnant of diacetyl, also very vaguely detectable in the nose), finishing florally and eventually even grapefruity hop bitter, resinous and spicy, quite strong for the style, but the light malt sweetishness continues beyond the finish as well, even with a vague honeyish touch to it. Firmly hopped in a (post)modern way, so in a sense an update of the more classic, late 20th-century English golden ale. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. Golden orange with a thick though quickly fading head. Aroma of honey, grassy hops and some citrus fruits. Taste is slightly fruity and pleasingly bitter. Aftertaste is rather short. Solid mouthfeel. Not spectacular by any means but it’s a nice Ale. Also goes well with Whisky.

Gravicask at the Angel mini beer festival, Kelvedon. Slightly hazy gold beer. Little white head. Smooth, semi dry palate. Nicely balanced. Pale malt - dry. Fresh mild marmalade orange hops with a trace of grapefruit. There is a little honey somewhere as well. Semi dry finish. Not bad.

Half pint, from cask at St. Urhos Pub. White ring to the rim of the glass. Near-clear, amber coloured body. Moderate smell of leafy hops. Fruity hops with hints of resin in flavour. Spicy bitter endnotes. Over par for a golden ale (Helsinki, 06.02.2011).

Cask @Kitty´s. Poured amber color with a bubbly head. Simple citrus fruit aroma. Flavor is some citrus, also quite malty. Bit harsh, but not so much disturbing. Quite bitter finish. Drinkable, but not very interesting.
