Deep golden colour with a small off white head. Moderate sweet aroma with some grassy notes. For me it was just to much grassy flavour. Unusual wheat ale.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before July 09, drank in Mar 09. Poured into a Franziskaner Weissbier glass. Looked like a darker than normal crystal weiss bier, but otherwise the same as youโd expect from Germany. Plenty of bubbles and a good white head. The aroma reminded me of Belgian Blondes, not Wheat beers. No banana or vanila, but there is a smell of melon and kiwi fruit. The taste isnโt your normal Weissebier one either, not as tart or citrus in flavour, but tangy and sharp non-the-less. The combination of wheat and barley malts certainly give it a pleasant taste and mouthfeel, if not the traditional wheat beer flavours donโt appear. This is a very drinkable beer and although not true to type and why should it be? I liked it and wholeheartedly recommend it.

Bottled. A pale dark golden beer with an off-white head. The aroma has strong notes of lemon as well as medium notes of wheat and hay. The flavor is sweet with notes of lemon and wheat, leading to a dry wheaty finish. Huge thanks to Papsoe for this bottled that had been evading me.

(Cask at Dr Duncans, Liverpool, 20 July 2009) Reddish amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dried fruit (dates, figs). Fruity, slightly malty taste with figs, dates and brown sugar. Low bitterness, fairly light body, some wheaty sweetness throughout. Decent beer, but leaning towards the boring.
