Rating 4K, bottle (from some webshop). Pours dark brown-black with mocha head. Aroma is chocolate, sweetness, vanilla, roast, bit of kama chocolate, some black bread. Flavor is sweet and bitter, dark bitter chocolate, whisky, roast, malt. Finish is dark chocolate bitter with some booze. Overall: very good, feels like liquid dark chocolate with some whisky in it.

Very dense, medium, dark-tan head over virtually black beer. Roasted, roasted nuts, whisky nose. Rich, warm, melanoidin-rich malts; chocolate; generally sweetish-smelling. Bitter-roasted flavour, with an alcoholic sweetness/heat backthroat. Bit of tobacco, ashes, chocolate, mocha. Lots of alcoholheat, full bodied with an oily, viscous texture. Good carbonation. Serious sipping beer.

Tap at Murphy’s Law. Black with tan head. Big whisky in the nose and up front in the aroma. Sweet deep roasted and burnt chocolate malts. Charcoal, molasses, peat. Big sweet and moderate roasty bitter. Full supple body, low carbonation. Rich ashy roasty finish. Really nice.

Tap at Marphy’s Law, thanks to Scotty001. Black with beige head. Molasses, asphalt, diesel, ink, lots of coffee and raw whisky, sweet dark chocolate. Not very boozy, but a bit rough and tarry. Over medium sweet and under medium bitter. Full bodied. Not as bad as my rating makes it sound, it’s quite enjoyable but really for sharing.

Whisky barrel aged ’impy’ by Kees, shared by tderoeck, cheers! Moussy and creamy, pale yellowish beige head, quickly thinning but leaving small patches of foam in the middle; very dark chestnut brown colour with warmly burgundy edges, blackish in general appearance but still more or less translucent at least under bright light. Rich nose of caramel candy, chocolate liqueur, lots of peated whisky as expected but not overpowering everything else, roasted walnut, dry tea leaves, candied cherry, chocolate cookies soaked in coffee, marmelade, wet wood, vanilla, Grand Marnier. Well-restrained dried fruit sweetness in the mouth, rich raisin and fig flavours, some dried banana, sourish redcurrant touch, softish carbo; smooth but ’full’, oily mouthfeel. Thick and rich nutty and toasted malt bittersweetness in the middle, sweeter caramelly notes linked to a bittering coffeeish touch, building up to a long, warming, drying finish filled with wood tannins, retronasal peat, heating whisky-ish alcohol, a spicy hop accent and, after all is said and done, beautifully lingering malt bittersweetness. Very rich sipper, but I had not expected anything less from this brewer.
