*rating overgezet 2016* Het is een diep donkerbruin tot zwart bier met een dun licht bruinig schuim. Het heeft een moutige chocolade achtige en houtige geur. De smaak is gebrande mout, turf en chocolade.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at Kris Wines (RIP) years ago. Pours black-brown with a bubbly beige head. Well rounded dark malt character, strong roast, bittersweet baking cocoa, scorched earth, old wood, hints of raisin and smoke. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Moderately warming finish, lots of bitter dark chocolate, baking cocoa, ashy roast, long-brewed coffee, more assertive earthy bitterness. A great classically styled BA impy.

Bottle. Almost black. Caramel, chocolate and whisky in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with roast, chocolate, whisky and red fruit. Hard to find any peat. Delicious.

@Tasting BeerCon, bottle shared, thanks @Ronald, black with a light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, licorice, lots of whisky, roasted. licorce again. Taste has some 'iodine', peated, chocolate, some sharp notes, decent however with some ´sharp edges´

Too alcoholic, and too much medicinal from the barrel (which isn't my favourite to start with). Not his best, still very tasty, though.

On tap @ Beer Lovers Bar in Antwerp. Pours black with moderate tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, vanilla, and slick roasted malts. Flavors of rich syrupy chocolate, dark vanilla, and dusty roasted malts. Subtle barrel effect makes the beer a little lighter and adds a slight sweetness. Very good.

Draft glass @ Beerlovers Bar. Black, dark mocha bubbles. Nose is massive oily syrup, molasses, varnish alcohol, thick sweet chocolate syrup, some varnish, lovely peated whisky coated over it. Taste is thick chocolate, wonderful sweet milk chocolate, sweet, mocha, chocolate, mocha, sweet, wonderful, whisky is largely in the back, gives a wonderful finish, mellow peated warming whisky, really nice, barrel is so complimentary, really great,... Body is thick chocolate. Kees is hit or miss for me but this is all hit.

Tap at beerlovers. Pours black, small white creamy head. Smell is rich, grainy, pure, black malts. Taste is creamy, full, very roasted, pure cocolate, thick whiskey. not very boozy. Good one. Very low carbo, silky thick mf

Bottle, 15 cl sample. Dark color, short frothy head. Aroma of roasty malts, dark choc and slight peated whisky. Roasty bitterness, bit cookie sweetness but not a lot and slight boozy whisky. Lacks a bit the body of the regular Kees RIS, and I prefer the barrel aging to add some sweetness instead. Decent, but not outstanding.
