Slightly hazy straw-colored body, thin off-white head. Citrusy, crisp hops aroma, backed by bready malt. Acidic. Crisp body, with toast and grapefruity hops. Medium-bodied, bitter finish, rather plain. Good IPA, but lacks complexity and flair.

Bottle: Pours a completely transparent bright gold color with a smaller white head. Aroma is rich of citrus hops, grapefruit, and overall is very bright. Taste is crisp with lots of floral and citrus hoppiness, nice malty backbone.

This brew is a clear golden color with tiny rising bubbles and a thick and fluffy off-white head that dissipates slowly. Patchy lacing on the glass. Lots of grapefruit in the aroma, along with some hops and caramel malt. Medium-bodied with a strong citrus character, mostly grapefruit. Touches of piney hops and malt as well. The finish is lemony hops with a touch of sweetness. An interesting beer that tastes like a cross between an IPA and an Imperial Pilsener. I would try this again.

This IPA is big on hops, light on malt — in keeping with its West coast home. Pour is clear golden with a frothy, white head. Aroma is citrusy with grapefruit and orange and pine. The flavor is moderately bitter and lightly sweet and moderately acidic. Lingering bitterness in the finish. Medium body with water texture. Moderate carbonation. Straight-up, solid IPA.

Bottle pours a clear light yellow orange. Medium sized off-white head and spotty lacing. Lots of bright sharp aromas of orange zest and flowery hops. Flavor is light moderate malts, and plenty of IBUs. Decent hop flavor and plenty bitter. A bit papery on the trailer and a fairly light palatte. Surprized to see it at nearly 8% Very nice for a middle weight IPA.

Pour is a bright copper with a large white head. Aroma is a vast amount of pine hops with some rye malts. Flavor is a little weak but you get your pine hops with a malty backbone. Finsih is very bitter and watery. Funny this is one beer by Lagunitas that is not hopped out the wazoo. Just an average or slightly below average IPA, not the hop bomb i was hoping for. Bonus is that it only cost $3.99.

Bright amber color with a rocky white head. Intense grapefruit malt aroma. Sharp, bittersweet malt flavor finishes strong with a resin hoppiness. Lots of flavor and complexity. Gotta love the name, too!

Thanks to beastiefan2k for this - now that I know this is available around here I don’t feel so bad drinking it - clear, light golden beer, with a loosely constructed head of large, soapy bubbles - very piney, resinous, woody aroma, with a strong mixture of american hops I can’t quite place - thinish mouthfeel - a light fruity sweetness and a faint hint of buttery, bready character - these characteristics help to balance out the strong, but not overly agressive west coast hop punch that comes afterwards - the hops are earthy and grassy, and as they swell up from under that malt backbone they add that expected, but not unwelcome citrus character - she thins out in the finish a little, and the alcohol comes through just a tad - a solid IPA, but nothing stand out - much like the Freak Out, this is hardly a beer worthy of a tribute to Zappa.
