From Aug 2007

Purchased at Poplar Wine and Spirits in Casper for US$10.50

I was just about to enter this as a new beer but I see my good buddy jwc215 beat me to it. ;^)

This one pours from waxed swing top 33.8oz bottle a hazy reddish gold with a thick head of foam with lots of sticky lacing. Very appealing appearance. The foam shrinks to a fine layer by the end of the session but it's *still* looking fine in my Sam Adams glass.

The smell is of caramel malt but it's very delicate.

The taste is semi sweet on my first sip and very earthy, almost tastes funky. As I take further sips, I'm getting some spice and a good hop bitterness, grass and a touch of lemon, that shows up near and through the finish. This is a tasty son of a gun!

It has a medium mouthfeel and the carbo is lightly done. A very quaffable offering from Grand Teton...yet again. I'm really liking what this brewery in Victor Idaho is doing with their Cellar Reserve series.

Bottom Line: If you see this one in your local store, give it a try. I recommend it!

Tap at University of Beer. Pours hazy amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma is mildly fruity. Med body. Flavor is roast malt, light stone fruit with hints of spice and earth. Not really sweet and barely bitter. Drinks decently. Growing on me.

750ml bottle. 2007. Heavy, bordering on harshness, malt character make this marzen taste off. Light amber body below a spare head that diminishes. The aroma is grainy with some bread and canned corn. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body has a creamy texture.

Bottle. 75cl. [Tasting @ Ølbaren, Copenhagen]. Unclear light to medium amber orange color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (110308)

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a thin beige head and very small pieces of sediment floating around. The flavor is sweet mlaty with primary notes of caramel, but also light notes of metal. While the flavor is sweet maly with a stronger note of metal (is it the alcohol?) and notes of caramel.

Bottle: Pours a muddy brownish red with no head and no lacing. Nose is light with earthy and malt tones. Tastes musty and earthy with a little malt accent and light spices. There is a little fruity sweetness, but the earthiness is a bit dominant.
