This is a tasty time-traveling tribute to an all time iconic beer style - the India Pale Ale. Though the style goes 200 years back this time around we re-created a 1985 style IPA - perhaps you remember the hip hop times. Enjoy a full on hoppy beer infused with everything you loved about the 80’s. The future is now.

12 oz. can, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma is quite metallic, with light English hops and biscuity malt. Flavour is fairly bright, with grassy hops, some spiciness and biscuity malt. Fairly flat and lacking in the hop punch of many contemporary IPAs, but it's decent.

Can - Earthy hops and a touch of caramel. Clear gold with a decent white head. Lots of persistent bitterness and more earthy hops. Very bland.

Can@Himmeriget, Copenhagen - orange pour with white head. Aroma and taste comprises citrus lemon and grassy hoppy notes, some straw, hay, almost Pilsner like in some ways, nice but prefer the modern one :) ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Slightly hazy gold with a white head. Aroma of caramel malt with just a bit of hops. The flavor is pretty malt-forward. Ok.

Can from wine warehouse. Pours golden with a large off-white head. Aroma of grass, light citrus, cigarette ash... Rather lager like aroma. Taste is also very lager like. Lots of bitter grass, burnt malt, he'll I even taste the cigarette ash in there. Retro- yes. Reminds me of picking up the wrong can of beer where someone put their cigarette out in. Blah. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The Sampler, Brooklyn can: pours dark gold with a white head. Aroma is is pine, caramel, and old school IPA. This does indeed taste like an old school American IPA. Taste is malty and moderately bitter. I mean I can see why this is retro. For real.

12 ounce can into tulip glass; batch#001, no can dating. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, wood, pepper, pine, light caramel, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/earthy/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, wood, pepper, pine, light caramel, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good sized pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange rind, wood, pepper, pine, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/earthy/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance; and a slight hop astringency after the finish, but not too bad. Moderate dryness from bitterness that increases through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and lightly creamy/grainy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very good and unique IPA style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/earthy/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A nice blend of English malt and older American/English hops varieties; while still remaining aggressively bitter and dry on the finish. A very enjoyable offering.
