This is a tasty time-traveling tribute to an all time iconic beer style - the India Pale Ale. Though the style goes 200 years back this time around we re-created a 1985 style IPA - perhaps you remember the hip hop times. Enjoy a full on hoppy beer infused with everything you loved about the 80’s. The future is now.

Can from The Bottle Shop Canterbury and drunk at home. Clear gold colour lasting white head. Some yeast on aroma, some hedgerow fruit hop aroma. Is this English hops? Fuggles, East Kent Goldings? That’s what it smells like to me. I rather liked it. Some caramel. Clean malt. Some bitterness on the finish. I rather like the hops. Yes decent.

355ml can from Saveur-Biere. Pours clear golden orange with a smooth foamy head. Aroma of buttery malts, grainy notes, hay, hints of citrus, earthiness and grass. Taste is malty, grainy and earthy with some hay, grass, hints of grass. Finish is sticky, stuffy and sweetish with some grainy notes, hints of hay, earthiness and grass. Can. Lightly hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light, dry and finely crisp. Mild minerals. Light malts, a trace of sweetness. Hops are mostly tangy floral with a touch of lemony citrus. Whisper of bitter citric peel. Light semi dry finish. Comes over like a ramped up golden bitter.

Can. It pours an almost clear body, golden in color and with a small, dense, off-white head. Some curtains. The aroma has a light bready maltyness, some caramel too, and piney, resiny and grassy hops. Pale malt notes, some bread and caramel in the flavor, but it’s hop focused, with lots of bitterness, and compared to modern standards, even though there’s hoppy flavors, there’s not too much of them. Some grass too. Full body and a nice carbonation level. Mostly on the dry side. Lasting finish. A pleasant one indeed, but I sure prefer the modern style. 160423

Tasting at Matt’s, can
Clean golden color. The aroma is very grainy; medium-dry mouthfeel, but the flavor too is quite grainy. Strong bitterness, some resiny and grassy hop qualities.
Decent, but we don’t feel the need of a time machine ;-)
