Drinks smooth, hits hard.

Prvi ovogodišnji RIS je slavljenički – povodom 12. rođendana pivovare izlazi Dark Dozen. Odležavao je u drvenim bačvama, punog je tijela, slatkog završetka i blage gorčine. U aromi i okusu ističe se zavodjiva tamna čokolada, melasa, karamela, vanilija i kandirano voće.

Aroma of dried fruit, raisin, caramel, cocoa, a bit of coffee, toasted malt, a hint of wood and some fusel alcohol. Flavor is more serious, woody, toasted malt, licorice on top of dried fruit Taste is medium to heavy sweet and low bitter. Body is full, texture oily, carbonation average. 0.33 l can from X Bar, Zagreb. Jet black, creamy brown to tan head, moderate persistence, leaving sticky lacing. The aroma is rich and layered, led by roasted and toasted dark malts, cocoa, caramel, and dark chocolate, with hints of dried fruit: figs and raisins. Subtle accents of vanilla, molasses, liquorice, with a woody, oaky touch. On the palate, the beer is full-bodied and thick, with a smooth, oily, and chewy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Flavours are soy sauce and coconut sugar at first, dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa powder, nougat, and caramel after, balanced by dried fruit sweetness and soft woody and liquorice notes. Despite initial heavy sweetness, bitterness from roasted malt and dark chocolate balances it out. The finish is long and roasty, bittersweet and slightly smoky, with dry, tannic oak, ashy undertones, and a noticeable but generally pleasant boozy warmth.

Can picked up from Zmajska Pivovara taproom and consumed at Camping Brig, Belavici, Croatia, Saturday 30th August 2025 after a short 60-75 mins drive from Zagreb, the weather today is truly atrocious, absolutely awful, persistent and sometimes super heavy rain, it's been raining since 12:30 and it's now 21:13 😳. We had Courgette Lasagne for tea, it was great. Pours black with a tan head that swiftly departed. Bitter, roasty with treacle and liquorice dominant. Very thick in the mouth and despite what the description suggests this really isn't really that sweet, okay there's some molasses but it's bitter dark chocolate and liquorice that I pick up most. Good, really nice, certainly not cloying or full of adjuncts.

Can, 0.33l. Black pour, one finger creamy brown head, long lasting, sticky lacing on the glass. Rich on the nose, cocoa, caramel, figs, raisins. Bready and woody notes, mild smoke.

Full body, soft carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel and texture, thick, creamy, chewy. Sticky. Nicely balanced roasty bittersweet taste. Aroma of roasted malt, toasted caramel, cocoa powder. Wood notes, molasses, vanilla, licorice. Figs and raisins. Warming alcohol in the background. Ashy, mild smoke. Long lasting finish, roasty, dry, boozy.

Quite tasty.

0.33l can at Pivska Školica 2025. Lovely dark brown body, thick brown head going away medium-fast. Caramelly aroma, vanilla, raisins, bit buttery, sweetish, lightly tart, oily, chocolatey. Hooh, the oak is here in force, but maybe a bit aggro / non-refined. Lean, sweetish taste, lighter body, chocolate and vanilla notes show up, still a bit buttery. Bitterish, dry, tannic finish, somewhat boozy, sweet. Not terribly enjoyable, but actually as was consensus, could actually improve a lot with aging. Need to get a few cans just for that.
