500ml bottle [as Löwenbräu Johann Modschiedler, Buttenheim - Dunkles Hefeweizen]. Dark, cloudy, chestnut colour with small, frothy, fading, off-white to beige head. Sweet-ish, yeasty, fruity aroma, notes of banana and dark berries, a touch of treacle and honey, malty undertones with a minimally bready touch. Taste is yeasty fruity, notes of dark berries, dried fruit, banana, a touch of treacle, overtones of blue grapes, minimally bready, malty basis. Interesting fruitiness.

Bottle shared at Lowenbrau in Buttenheim on day 2 of the Bamberg Jolly of January 2014. Pours lightly hazy brown with a creamy tan head. Lightly toasted wheat comes first, along with faint caramel, bread, dried berries. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, with more bread, caramelised sugars, dry toasted wheat. Good stuff.

500ml vom fass, as Löwenbräu Buttenheim Dunkelweizen, at Rappen-Keller (Kellern 14) in Kellerwald. Opaque brown-orange, could say muddy, coloured body. Foamy white head with fine duration. Fragile lacing. Sweet taste of dried fruits and caramel. Taste of dark wheat, ripe fruits and malty sweetness beneath. Fine bodied. Quite nice, rather too sweet in the long run (Forchheim 11.10.2014).

Had this as Löwen Bräu Dunkles Hefeweizen. Bottle looks simple but really good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts mild, fine malty-yeasty, not too dry. Fruity hints of raisins. Mild sourish notes. Well balanced finish. Nice!
