This naturally cloudy, amber colored mild unfiltered lager, is a Franconian speciallity. Its distinctive character derives from fine yeast and an extended
aging period in wooded casts in the cellars of the brewery. Taken well-cooled, St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier is a truly exquisite pleasure and perfect as aperitifs served before dinner to stimulate the appetite.

Draft at the Blind Tiger. Not very carbonated, but smooth and drinkable. Hard time describing it, breadiness maybe?

Bottle. German brown bread barley malt aroma. Hazy amber with a minimal, instantly gone, head. Bready barley malt and herbal hops flavor. Light body, flat carbonation.

Pours an unimpressive white head that leaves no lacing. Brownish amber color. Mild malty aroma. Molasses and malts is what I tastes. Smooth, but not watery. Nothing at all exciting.

Bottled. A hazy dark golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of straw as well as light notes of malt and citrus. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of straw, leading to a bitter finish. The body is somewhat thin.

500 mL bottle from Vintage Cellar. Pours a dark amber color with no head. Smells like a cider with distinct apple notes as well as some caramel. Taste is apples, bitter, bristly hops, caramel and grain. Nearly flat, but not quite. Sticky texture. Medium bodied. Drinkable, but not very pleasant.

Bronze color, barely a hint of a head, lacking effervescence and nearly flat. Spicy grassy hop nose, biscuity malts. Sweetish caramel-toffee, DMS?, lightly bitter finish. A bit dead.

Bottle. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, fruit, malt. Flavour is sweet, malt, fruit, malt, hop. Medium body. Ordinary beer.

Bottle, thx to Maria. A slightly unclear deep golden beer with a small off-white head. Toffeeish, sweetish nose on the malty side with some dried fruits and apricot. Pleasant malty toffeeish and bready flavor with some fruityness and a touch of oxidation and some roasted notes. Full-bodied and sweet. Nice finish with malts and a touch of oxidation. A malt-driven beer, far from extraordinary, but pleasant and easy to drink. (081127)

Bottle. Vigorous pour yields no head. Just a hazy golden orange body. Aroma is deep caramel with pear and a bit of soggy malt and a touch of corn. Taste is a bit of urine, wet dog, malt, DMS and iced tea. Sounds like a horrible combination, and although not great, it is not as bad as it sounds. Hardly any carbonation on the tongue. Watery.

500 ml bottle purchased at Beertopia in Omaha, Nebraska. Pour is a hazed copper brownish. Thin soapy-bubbly white head. Aroma faint, some light caramel. Taste is muted caramel, honey grassiness and toasted malt. More toasty than sweet, certainly. Palate has a nice unfiltered feel to it, with lingering hay and earthiness. No carbonation to speak of. Nice drinkable beer.
