Formery brewed by "Maisel Bräu", Bamberg, Germany (closed in 2008).

This naturally cloudy, amber colored mild unfiltered lager, is a Franconian speciallity. Its distinctive character derives from fine yeast and an extended
aging period in wooded casts in the cellars of the brewery. Taken well-cooled, St. Michaelsberg Kellerbier is a truly exquisite pleasure and perfect as aperitifs served before dinner to stimulate the appetite.

Pour is a bright orange with a very small white head. Aroma is toasted caramel malts and a nice dark fruit character. Flavor is very earthy English style hop with a nice dose of strong dark malts followed by a plum aftertaste. Its not often that you get a new kellerbier in the area but i think that this one hits all the right spots to make this an above par offering.

Bottle - headless, almost completely still pour - golden beer with fine suspended particles - it sure don’t look like much - fruity, honey-sweet aroma, with loads of dried herbs, flowers, some european hop spiciness - light and easy to quaff - nice balance of biscuity malt, dry, spicy hops, light honey and floral notes - gets some ambiguous fruitiness near the end, and the hops almost become peppery - an interesting beer.

Bright orangey-amber colour. Beautifully toasty nose with herbal accents. Light hop - earth note. Very fresh grain character. Probably too much carbo and not enough bitterness for my kellerbier liking but a good brew.

10th rater. Well I was not going to rate this because I thought I had a badly carbonated bottle, but from the ratings this looks like all the bottles are like this. Pours a hazy light copper, no headless. Aroma is sweet bread-y malts, nicely present with earthy, faintly sweet hops. Taste starts off with light earthy, German hops and then backed up by a light white bread sweetness. A nicely easy medium body with almost no carbonation. This would be a hell of a beer Keller if it was properly carbonated.
500mL bottle, Old small Lowenbrau weizen glass.
