Our flagship beer - the one Rob brewed first and still the beer we brew most of. Scapa Special is a classic pale ale with wide appeal. Ever so balanced, the skill that Rob has so well honed, this beer and biscuity malt upfront and delicate but ascending hops in the middle and end. Three malts and five hops - from Britain, Germany and the US - make Scapa Special a classic pale ale.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 7 Aug 2008) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, grassy nose with citrus. Fruity taste with grass and citrus, leading to a grassy, rather bitter finish. Solid malt foundation with balanced sweetness. Nice one.

Cask at GBBF 2007. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of hops, while the flavor is very sweet - making it somewhat sticky in the mouth, with notes of malt and flowery hops.

Cask at the Market Porter, Southwark, London 27-10-07 Pours a dark golden colour with thin white head. Not much of an aroma detected but what there was came across as possibly fruity. Tasted pleasantly bitter and started off great, wonderful fullness of flavour lovely maltiness and bitterness, quite dry towards the end, but it never quite pulled it off and failed to be the truly great beer that I thought it might be. Coulda’ been a contender!
