Half-pint by gravicask, shared with Finn at NWAF ’13. Clear rosewood coloured body. Naked surface. Earthy malts to the nose with hints of liquorice. Dark malty taste with a peaty touch. Short-lived roasted bitter finish. Decent enough considering the low abv (Manchester, 23.01.2013).

Black and smoked ale with a thick creamy head on top. Smoky aroma with is more prevalent in its taste, and very pleasant.

Was surprised at this being fairly bland-tasting. Looked a nice pint, not a lot of aroma to it. Had a thin but lasting head. Not unpleasant, just a bit mediocre to my taste.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A brown beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of roasted malt, leading to a very dry roasted finish - almonst burnt.

Cask at the White Horse Pub, London. Pours brown with a modest, off-white head. Lightly roasted malts in the aroma with faint mocha. Flavor is modestly sweet with notes of ash, cocoa and tobacco, along with a fair amount of dry bitterness. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Finishes is lightly dry with lingering, dark and roasted malts. Not bad.

Cask. A pitch black mild, burnt to a crisp. Great roasted malt character, decent dry flavor and finish. Almost more like a porter than a mild, but light and very drinkable. Excellent.
