An Imperial American India Pale Ale brewed exclusively with Amarillo and Simcoe hop varieties. Stimulating aromas of fresh green flora and bright citrus cascade from this burnt umber colored brew. Hop forward flavors of sweet grapefruit and bitter orange rind are backed by a sizable, yet simple malt bill allowing for a vibrant bitterness to project, but not overwhelm.

5th July 2009
Dark brown-amber beer, cloudy. Frothy tan head. Very dark for an IPA! Soft palate, a little dry. Deep rich hops. Marmaladey grapefruit, fairly bitter. Aniseed spice. Satisfying and sophisticated.

Bottle vintage 620 of 798 thanks to ditmier. Pours out cloudy amber topped with a tan head. Aroma was tons of floral hop notes along with sweet caramel and grapefruit peel. Taste more of the hops lots of floral and pine. This beer is had lots of hop bite for its age.

Bottle - thanks Ditmier. Amber with a thin beige head. Dry, floral, citrus, and (musty) malt aroma. Syrupy feel. Oddly hot for being sort of old, but a brash floral hop taste. Could have been the year of age on this...

courtesy of the Shorts tasting night group. early ’07 bottle. bottle#599 pours orange cloudy with white head. Aroma is just straight DIPA with hints of caramel malts. Even after 2+ years this one still retained a strong hop profile. Flavor, caramel malts with a good hop balance, good carbonation with a light yeasty finish.

Tasting at Papsoe
Hazy amber color. Finally a known aroma from this brewery: good resiny hops, some pepper. Semi-sweet toffee flavor, good body strength, with a very strong hopping, strong grapefruit, some resins. Very good.

Sample at the Columbus Ratebeer gathering at ogglethorp’s 11/20/08: This brew is a mostly clear amber-red color with a thin and rocky light beige head. Spotty lacing. Resiny hops, caramel and malt in the nose. Medium-bodied with moderately bitter hops and grapefruit flavors along with some sweet caramel malt undertones. The finish is hoppy with a lingering bitterness left over. Solid all around.

Cloudy red amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma dominated by apricot hops, with spice and alcohol mixed in. Sweet and fruity flavour, with herbal, grass, apricot notes. Good hop bitterness, yet the sweetness gets cloying.
