Bottle shared by Jeff during the opening night of the RBSG, thanks for all the effort and the great beers you shared! Poured a cloudy amber brown with a yellowish brown head that was thick and lasted. Aroma was quite tart/sour with cherries mainly and there was a backing caramel and toffee note. Flavor was similar with a sour overtone, mainly cherries with caramel and toffee backing.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty and slightly tart aroma. Sweetish fruity malty dark fruit flavor with some sour hints. Has a sweetish malty sour tart finish with hints of dark fruit in the aftertaste.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with notes of caramel and berries, with a slight acidic note lying in the back ground. The flavor is acidic malty with notes of over ripe fruits, dusty hops, and oxidation, leading to a dry and slightly alcoholic finish.

Received a bottle from both badnewbeers and Silphium, 2 brothers, 1 beer. Color is a rather clear dark red. Aroma is a weird forest and fruit mix, sweet and sugary. Taste is cherry-sugar-sweet. Not sour but acidic in the aftertaste. Syrupy body and a lowered carbonation.

Copper with a small but lasting white head. Caramel and molasses aroma with a hint of plastic. Dry sour and malty, but nothing special.

Bottle @ Chris_o shindig 2007. Clear amber color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty roasted, brown sugar, sour, woody, alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet, light acidic and bitter, sour, with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle at Chris_o Shindig. Amber, lasting beige. Slightly fusty aroma. Putty aroma from Jbrus. Odd bizarre, not terrible, but for me it doesn’t quite work.

Bottle #324/424 and 277/424, split with badnewsbeers. Deep toffee to light cola-colored body, translucent. Thin buff head. Hot aroma with strong, tannic oak and alcohol, toast and a bit of funk/vinegar. Dry, tannic body with buttery, rich oak enhanced by a tart but not sweet fruitiness that is modest but enhances the barrel flavors. In addition, I detected a touch of tobacco and vanilla. Great balance, an elegant simplicity. I too would have liked more sour bite, but thankfully this didn’t have the artificial sweetness that I tend to find in many American versions of this style.

A straightforward, beer, that isn’t sour enough. Bright red color, it does look the part. Aroma has some balsamic and sugar, maybe some fruit as well. Flavor is sour, with a little more vinegar, but it simply is not sour enough. Still a very good beer anyway. Dried fruit finish.
