Bottle, a big big big big one. Pours slightly hazy tea amber with stable beige head. Dusty aroma with notes of yeast, caramel malt and hops, and touches of fruit. Sweetish flavour of dried fruit, caramel malt, honey and yeast, with bitter and dusty notes. Dusty and estery aftertaste with meady and alcoholic notes. Warming alcohol presence. Well past the BBD, at least 20 years, but still very much enjoyable. A true gem.

Bottle. There is a label, but it does not state volume or ABV. It is a big bottle, though. Also no BB date, but it is past that, I'm sure. Very vinous aroma. Lots of raisin and the stuff I usually do not like in old beer. This time, not so bad, afterall. Almost clear copper colour. Small stable head. The flavour is very sweet, but also very vinous. Almost like mead. Lots of dried apricot and other fruits. Does not taste 10.5%, but after a while comes a warming and bitter alcohol note. Tastes all right, but I could not drink much of it.

(Bottle) Courtesy of yespr. Clear deep golden with a basically absent head. Lightly oxidized aroma with sweet sherry notes. Medium body with sweet caramel and sherry. A little low in carbonation. No bitterness. Pleasant and very British. 290508

Big bottle, old style
Amber color. A quite good caramel brew, with medium-low bitterness, medium-hihg alcohol perception, strong oxidation that gives some complexity. Not bad.

[Courtesy of yespr] Clear amber with tiny off white head. Sweet vinious aroma with caramel, plums and roasted malt. Sweet vinious flavor with caramel, toasted malt and ripe fruits. Warming alcohol towards the end.

From bottle, #1816. Pours clear and golden orange. dark fruity and dense malty aroma. Flavour is dense malty and solid fruity with notes of prunes and some subdued raisin sweetness. Overripe fruit and with a solid bite from the alcohol. Ends warming and fruity. Very nice.

Bottle @ thewolf-and-his-flock-of-sheep tasting session. Clear orange color, medium off-white head. Aroma reminding of a good barley wine, sweet, malty, slight alcohol. Nicely balanced. Loved this.

Bottle vintage 1998. Thanks to TheWolf. Pours deep brown with a creamy white head. Aroma is super matured malty - caramel, vinous/port. Low carbonation. Oily & slick palate. Some dark fruits raisin & plum. An old cellar feel but doesnt really hurt the experience! Impressed & improved vintage!

Bottle. An amber beer with a beige head. The aroma is very sweet and very malty with a medium note of alcohol, and lighter notes of metal. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of alcohol, leaving a slight burn in the throat, combined with notes of toffee and sirup, as well as hints of oxidation, leaidng to a slightly bitter finish. Thanks SilkTork for sharing this.

Bottle 1130ml @ Chris_o shindig 2007. Clear light amber color with a small, virtually none, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, dry berries, port, tawny, alcohol, vintage. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet sweet with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat. ;o))
