A well balanced dark mild ale with some bitterness, full bodied, but not overly sweet. An award winning mild that delivers a light fresh taste to one of the more traditional of beer styles.

Cask at Alexandra, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with minimal off-white head. There’s a subtle aroma of roast malts and dark fruits. These continue in the mouth, where the texture is sweet and watery. Some hints of chocolate and nuts too. Finish is sweet, fruity, and slightly dry. This is nice enough, but not outstanding.

Cask @ the Wellington, Birmingham City Centre. Translucent dark brown, flat. Scent of chocolate, coal fire, malt vinegar. Boring bittersweet taste, leading to a slightly more bitter finish. Surprisingly chewy palette. Very meh.

Cask @ GBBF14. Malty-sticky, not too deep, slightly smooth. fresh, but not too much deepness Nice smooth ale characteristic. The aftertaste is smooth, malty, fresh, with a nice bitter ale-typical ending.
