Cask conditioned version of this bitter boasting a distinctive golden colour. It pours with a luscious creamy head and offers a malty, moreish character with hints of caramel and toffee. The bitterness is gentle, balanced by a smooth body and finishes crisp and refreshing.

Draught at Crinan Hotel. Pours pale-golden with some head, some of which hangs about. The nose has apples, lemon and malt. The taste has more malt and apples. The palate is medium bodied and textured, but it doesn’t clean on the end - there’s a malty overhang. Overall, this is drinkable for something so ubiquitous.

Cask at Swan with Two Nicks in Worcester. This is almost comically bad. Hard candy flavour in the mouth and such a pale shadow of its former self. I remember having it in the early 90s and being very impressed with this as a session bitter. Now? Oh dear.

Draught: Deep golden to light amber coloured, firm, small creamy layer; faint fruity, grainy nose; light bitter flavour, light bodied; short, fruity bitter finish. Not a very impressive brew........
