Cask at The Star & Garter, Bromley. Nose is banana, digestive biscuit, peach. Taste is the first two of the above. Doesn't have the bitterness of the original. Quite pleasant though.

Cask at White Lion, Stockport. Pours bright copper with a small almost white scummy head and good lacing. The aroma is quite simply bitter hops. In the mouth in is superficially sweet but with underlying bitterness. Flavour has bitter hops and corn with some underlying citrus initially (though this fades). Hints of honey and ginger later. Finish is quite bitter. This is decent – a good attempt as recreating the much missed classic.

Cask @ Railway Inn, Hyde. Perfectly smooth bitter, and very refreshing in the palate. Easy to drink.

Cask in Manchester, England. Bellies full of Boddingtons. A nice pub ale. Golden colour with a creamy off white head. Mild malt and hopp aroma. Also a bit weak flavour, but easy drinkable. You can really fill up your belly.

Keg @ Premier Inn off M6, Carlisle. 051011
Golden, clear, thick nitro head.......Aroma - not much here, very slight malt and hops...Taste of light malts, cereal, bit cardboardy, light bitter, slight bubblegum(?), bland......Palate - smooth, low carb. Finish - same as main flavour, very light bitter, slightly metallic.
Bland and boring but not the worst. Certainly better than the Stella I had the same night.

At tab at hard rock café in London. Delighted to find a beer I had not tasted here, but as expected nothing spectacular. A pretty standard beer, good colour, good head.

Draught at Crinan Hotel. Pours pale-golden with some head, some of which hangs about. The nose has apples, lemon and malt. The taste has more malt and apples. The palate is medium bodied and textured, but it doesn’t clean on the end - there’s a malty overhang. Overall, this is drinkable for something so ubiquitous.

Cask at Swan with Two Nicks in Worcester. This is almost comically bad. Hard candy flavour in the mouth and such a pale shadow of its former self. I remember having it in the early 90s and being very impressed with this as a session bitter. Now? Oh dear.
