[75 cl corked bottle] Red colour, no head, very little carbonation. Sweet/sourish cherry aroma. Pleasant tartness turns into carmell-ish sweetness who gets a little bit too much in the long run. Surprisingly thin body. The taste of alcohol was nowhere to be found. Tasted better cold than warm.

500ml bottle - Since I had the bottle to myself, I tried it both hot, on the rocks, and a few sips closer to room temperature. Especially when hot, it has a substantial aroma of tart cherries and spices. The flavor is sweet and tastes strongly of cherries (obviously) along with those spices (nutmeg, perhaps?). It’s medium bodied and has a tart cherry finish. I enjoyed this one, though the whole bottle for one person was a bit too much cherry. Share it.

Bottle from 08/08/02. Consumed July 5th, 2006. Clear amber color with no head. Strong aroma of cherries (obviously) and a bit of yeast. Tastes kind of like a cherry wine cooler initially. Starts off sweet and fruity. Then it turns a bit sour. That flavor leads to a medicine taste that distracts from the experience.

Bottled, 0.5ltr champagne-corked. Served at cellar-temperature. Almost clear, copper-colored, with a little rim of white bubbles. Pleasant aroma with cherries, glühwein and raisins. The cherries is quite subdued. Rounded flavor with cherries, a bit acidity, glühwein and sweetness. Lightly astringent finish with some alcohol. Delicious at this temperature in the summer-heat, will have to try to find another bottle to savour heated when it gets colder. Rating: 8-3-7-4-15-3.7. 060704
Bottle, 75cl corked, vintage 2002. Mulled to approx 65-66 degrees C. It’s a clear, dark amber colored beer topped by an off-white head leaving lacings. The spices is quite evident in the aroma, with cherries and a touch of almonds. Some dried fruit hints too. There’s a touch of cellar in the flavor, as well as the cherries, spices and almonds found in the aroma. Full to medium body, quite sweet. Certainly nice, but I’d take a bottle of Glühkriek over this any day. 121124

Cold Clear red body with an orange-pink shine coming trough. No head. Aroma of sweet cherries, sherry, spices, ... Lightly sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Lightly sour, moderately bitter finish. Very well balanced - somewhat sharp, but I like it. High viscosity, like cognac - ’sticky’. Very nice and well balanced fruity flavour. Points: 7/3/8/4/15 Hot Red clear body. No head. Nose of fruit (cherries) and spices (vanilla, clove). Lightly sweet, moderately bitter initial flavour. Lightly sour, lightly bitter finish. The sharpness from the cold version disappeared. Resembles a (good) gluhwein. Points: 7/3/7/3/14

Sampled at From The Vine beer tasting Jan 14th, 2005: Served a little cooler than room temperature, and I would definitely like to try it hot. Pours cherry red with a medium thick off-white head with big, pregnant bubbles. Nothing but cherries in the nose. Strong cherry flavor with a flatter texture than one would find in a Lambic or similar beer. The finish is tart cherry and lingers for quite some time both on the palate and in the glass. Interesting beer.
