Bottle at Mark’s Sour Tasting on 06/16/2010. Clear red body with a small reddish head. Big spice and light cherry aroma. Sweet cherry flavor with vanilla and clove. Bottle at red wine temp. Tart cherry aroma. Mahogany color with no head, just a slight white ring. Medium to full body with very mild carbonation. It is sweet, but not sickenly so. The cherry is not all that tart, but somewhat resembles a cooking cherry. Mild spice. I can imagine a little oak lingering in the background. That woodiness is a little more noticeable in the finish. Could be cherry pits. Very pleasing. Way less sweet than Lindeman’s Kriek, but much less sour than Rodenbach. It is what it is, and that’s pretty good.

There ain’t nothing quelque chose about it, that is cherries. Nice aroma cherry, bread, and pie crust dough with spices, no hops. Pours with no head in a murky dark red color. Medium body goes down watery with dead carbonation. Kind of a mess, and really could use more bubbles to brighten things up.

(Bottle) Orangey red colour with brief, bubbly head. Almost no carbonation. Fruity nose with distinct notes of cherries and traces of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, caraway). Fruity, very sweet taste with loads of cherries and tart hints of red berries (raspberries) and spices (ginger, caraway, clove). Medium body, alcohol well hidden, definitely a bit sweet. Warm (heated to ca 70 C): turns clearer with a firm, pinkish head. More balanced taste with less sweetness and more emphasis on the spices. This is not far from swedish glögg (warm, spiced, rather sweet wine) usually enjoyed during Christmas (nice timing). Seriously interesting beer, I think I prefer it warm, but it would be perfect cold with dessert.

2002 version 500 ml. bottle shared by Indra at his 12/7 tasting. Served warm - mulled by Eric and probably around 100 degrees. Pour is ruby red, no head, and completely still. Aroma of mulling spices, cinnamon, coriander and just overall festive holiday spiciness. Taste of big cherry, and a much more subtle version of all of the spices listed in the aroma. Really fun to drink, and I far preferred the warmed version to the room temperature. May need to work this one into a Christmas tradition!

2002 consumed 11/07. Warmed. Pours a fairly clear reddish brown with little head. Aroma is almost cidery. Complex, fruity, vinous, and light bodied. Very pleasant and quite different. I’ve added another bottle to the cellar.

Bottle at KØ07. Good berry aroma, must be cherry, slightly citric. Hazy prune red colour. The flavour is rather sweet, and only slightly acidic to balance. Cinnamon aftertaste. Not very balanced, but actually drinkable.

(75 cl bottle from Systembolaget) Sampled cold. Clear red brown color, small white head. Sweet cherry and cherry pips scent. Cherry and cinnamon taste. Full mouthfeel, though low co2. Medium bitterness. I can imagine this as a perfect winter drink when served hot.

CBF07 sample from 22 oz. bottle. Pours brown/amber. Aroma of raisins, alcohol and general dried fruit. Flavour is distinct sour cherry with a, for my liking, too sweet flavour. Very fruity and sweet. Finish is sweet, too sweet - again. Overall too sweet for my taste, but honestly a good brew.

Bottle @ Københavnske Øldage 2007 in Copenhagen. Amber red color with virtually none head. Aroma is heavy cherry and cask wood / vintage, fruit, tart. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet (berry sweet). Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat.
