Had this one chilled. Cork only made a small pop, like opening a wine bottle. Made only a few bubbles when poured. Pours a ruby red color. Aroma of tart cherries and clove. Flavors of cherries and cranberries with some clove and cinnamon. Medium body with zero carbonation. Interesting and different. To me this is like drinking fruit juice with alcohol.

Bottle, shared @ jbrus’s place, both heated and at room temp. Cherry brandy and marzipan in the aroma. Sugary sweet flavor with amarena cherries, milky notes and marzipan. Vinous, like the DDR cherry wines I had 20 years ago in Burgstädt near Chemnitz and got totally pissed from. Hints of anis and cinnamon. A bit too sweet. Personally I think this beer shouldn’t be heated.

2002 Bottle:
Bright copper & bronze coloured body with a non-existant head and a ruby tint atop not a single bubble - that’s okay, it’s been seven years. Aroma of bright strong cherries, potent mulling spices of allspice, clove, canella and some star anise. Medium-bodied; Nice spicey cherry flavour with a mild spice finish mainly showing allspice. Aftertaste shows sweet cherries, a bit of wheat and malt and a very mild spiceyness - nice! Overall, a nice beer - I have been waiting a long time to sample this, but as winter ends on the 7th year this bottle’s been around, I feel like I should finally tuck into it! Good to try when it’s warm - the alcohol comes out more, the cherries and spice dominate as well - but since I haven’t just finished skiing, I’d rather drink this cellar temperature. Definitely worth trying when you can get it! I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York sampled at home on 28-March-2009, on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

Bottle 50 cl. Cold: Pours an almost clear reddish amber, no head and completely flat. Sweetish liqueur-like cherry aroma with an overripe feel and a light underlying acidity. 8/3/8/3/15=3.7

Hot: Clear, warm reddish amber. Very intense cherry aroma. Medium body with sweet’n’sour cherry notes. Very authentic cherry flavours. 271208

Bottle from acknud - thanks! Although I hear there is a variety of temps to choose from, this was poured this near cellar temp. Very much a reddish brown pour with a smaller head. Nose is instant fruitiness. Reminds me of pie cherries. Tastes rich with cherries, a tiny bit medicinal, hints of spices, and a neat amount of sweet and tart. Fun brew from up north.

Sample at Aarhus beerfestival. Small head with short duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are rich with cherry. Very cherry juice like. Virtually no carbonation.

Clear red with no head. Sweet fruity aroma and flavor with intense cherry and cinnamon notes.

Bottle. Frothy white fair mostly deminishng head. red colour. Nice cherry aroma. Heavy sweet and light bitter flavor. Strobng cherry notes. Average finish. Syryply nice palate.

Don’t drink this hot. Very medicinal. I found that medicinal quality served normally and on the rocks also, but hot it was much more pronounced. On to the rating of the beer served normally. Taste is strong cherry, but not overwhelming. Like I said before, there is a cough-droppish quality to this. Bad bottle? Aroma is cherry and funk. Medium body. A little too sweet. Might be a drainpour by the end of the bottle. (It actually grew on me a little). Many thanks to xmarcnolanx for the bottle.

Bottled. Clear reddish color, no head just some lacing. Cold: aroma of clove, hint of cinnamon, quite fruity of cherry. Sweet taste, spicy again, no sourness. No alcohol noticeable, very easy to drink. Reminds me of Dutch ’ontbijtkoek’, probably because of the clove and cinnamon combination. Warm: nothing left of the spicy aroma, just some fruity notes and alcohol. Taste is very sticky, but hardly fruity and spicy anymore. Just very very boring when it’s heated. Cold: 3.8. Warm: 2.1
