Santa C has come to town, ready to occupy various Christmas tables during the festive season. Santa C is a true Christmas beer, a perfect accompaniment to many Christmas foods. It is a beautiful golden, medium-strength, pleasant, spicy Christmas brew. It has a lovely sweet aroma of orange, vanilla and red berries as a result of the First Gold aroma hops we use. The taste is rich and round with sweet, toffee notes from the caramelised malts we use. There are also clear notes of vanilla, orange and red berries – which also feature in the aroma.

Bottled (as Vinhandlerens Eget Brygg Crimson Ale). Amber colour, minor head. Aroma is apples, caramel, alcohol, plum and burnt sugar. Flavour is malty, sweet sugary as well as some balancing hops. Quite sour and acidic appleish overall, and especially aftertaste.

Bottled, caged and corked 75cl@RBESG’06 as "Vinhandlerens Eget Brygg Crimson Ale". Copper-amber brown, not much head. Very toffeeish nose. Light, carbonated apple flavors. A bit like drinking a cider. Interesting.

Bottled. Hazy, brown with a small beige head. Sweet, malty aroma with hay and cardamom. Flavor is much the same, with a too sticky mouthfeel, and a lightly roasted and bitter finish. Nice, but a little too average. Rating: 6-3-6-3-13-3.1. 060107
Bottle. A hazy, dark orange beer with a finger-thick beige head. Slightly strange with licorice hints on a malty-sweet back. Both fresh and dried fruits chime in, and there’s a herbal touch as well. Quite herbal flavor, with a touch of blackcurrant. Sweet malts, caramel notes and some spices too, and in the end there’s bitterness. Full-bodied but a bit low on carbonation. Not really sure about this one, it’s too unusual, and it fails to bring me the Christmas feeling. Still, it doesn’t feel right to give a 5 on aroma and taste. 091209

A hazy amber beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of yeast and caramel and notes from the warm fermentation slightly estery. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw and caramel as well as hints of spices. The body is slightly thin.
Earlier Rating: 1/3/2005 Total Score: 2.8
A hazy red-brown beer with a dense but disappearing light brown head. The aroma is yeasty, but also with notes of caramel and hay. The flavor is very sweet with notes of caramel, yeast, hay, and hints of roastyness, that leaves a little dryness in the cheeks, but the body is thin.
Earlier Rating: 12/27/2004 Total Score: 3.1
An unclear red-brown beer with a small very fast disappearing head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of oranges and lesser notes of yeast, caramel, and brewmash. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel and oranges leading to a rather dry hoppy end. Unfortunately the body is thin.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, dark brown with a red glow and a fine head. Malty and nutty - all the typical ale characteristics. Very fruity and sweetish with a subdued bitterness. Low in carbonation. I wonder how different this brew REALLY is from the same brewery’s Brown Ale. 050103

Head reduced to whitish rim; orange-brown, hazy beer (?golden ale??). Dusty nose, chaff, some spices and some chocolate. Extremely nutty taste, dry hazelnuts, Brazil nuts and walnut oil. Old beer? No BBd in sight but doesn’t look the part. Malty, no trace of spices in the taste. Mineral water MF, some grainy, even dusty texture. Nowhere bad, but very unexciting. Prematurely oxidyzed?Earlier Rating: 12/22/2004 Total Score: 3.5Dark red-brown; very little head, soon reduced to transparant-white rim. Nose of quite rich fruitcake -with spices, going over in German Dunkel-like bready aromas, bit buttery as well. Dry bitterish/spicey - VERY spicey - taste, pure soft gingerbread with cinnamon & cloves in abundance. Very discreet cookie-like sweetness. Somewhere there’s some tannines? Fairly well-bodied at first glance; some slickness, probably the spices. But somewhere there’s a thinnish texture lurking. Nice, not too sweet, but maybe a tad too heavy on the spices. We got the idea, Juul is winter ale, no need for a drawing...

Rerate, as "Vinhandlerens Eget Bryg Crimson Ale", RBESG 2006 Grand Tasting. Jesus - is this REALLY the same beer?? Reddish (crimson) colour, low head. Vinous sweet & sour aroma and flavour. Not bad. Original rating: (330 ml bottle). Copper coloured, a slight haziness, moderate but relatively thick beige head. Malty sweet aroma, caramel. Flavour is again malty sweet with some caramel - definitely too sweet. One-dimensional. Thin mouthfeel despite the sweetness. The brewers claim they have used "organic grown hops" - maybe those hops were organic to a degree that they were left to rot on their stems, ’cause there sure is no trace that any of them have been used in this beer! Very disappointing. Rating 2.1

Nice chokolate/coffee aroma, this is were this beer has it´s forces. Virtuallly no head, but splendid darkbrown colour. It has a long finish but alas a bit sour.. it´s a creamy soft carbonated beer.
