Cask @ Manchester & County, Manchester. This might be the same ale as Goodwill Bitter. Very dark red with a creamy off-white head. Has some coffee both its aroma and taste, and slightly roasted in the later, although smooth tasting in its texture. It’s strength is not too evident.

Cask at the Monk’s Retreat (JDW), Reading. Amber with a medium off-white head and a prickly fizz. Rather slimy caramel with some dead leaves, a little apricot and a hint of spice. Another crap Christmas beer with little Christmassy about it, although I can’t fault Wetherspoons for the conditioning which was once again excellent.

Cask @ The Linen Hall JDW, Enniskillen [301215] as Goodwill Festive Ale
Dark copper amber, clear, thin white head
Aroma of sweet caramel, light fruits
Taste of fruity caramel malts, light bitter hops, soft sweet caramel, easy going
Palate - Medium body, light sweet. Finish as main flavour, touch bitter, soft malts, fruity caramel
Overall - Not bad, not as good as original rating
Cask @ JDW Inverness 271211 [6/3/8/4/15 3.6]
Dark amber, clear, thin white head.
Aroma of caramel malts, some fruitiness, not much hops on the nose.
Taste - Caramel malts, bit of roasted malt, fruity, bit of toffee, rich, very subtle spices, good flavour, well balanced.
Palate - soft carb, medium body, smooth, some sweetness, not much bitterness, bit sticky texture. Finish - smooth, continuation of main flavour, cleans well off the palate.
A good tasting premium bitter, spices acting only as a subtle adjunct. I like this one.
