Hazy dark brown beer. Soft palate. This 2004 vintage is holding up well. Malt doesn’t taste aged. Slightly bitter toffee caramel. Finishes with a little aniseed alcohol and a touch of heat. Nice enough but I could not drink much.

2006 bottle thanks to blutt59. Pours with a hazed golden body and a fading white head. Aromas of currants, molasses, dark fruits, prunes and cotton candy. Flavors are biter and caramelized. Dark fruits, alcohol, bitter toffee and flan. Medium bubbles, creamy. A bit of a corked flavor as it warms to go with the huge caramel flavors.

(swing top bottle, vintage 2005, courtesy of Papsoe) Hazy, orange-amber colour with a short and slightly off-white foamy head. Sweet, slightly yeasty, strong grainy, cereal-like malty aroma. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a pleasantly soft carbonation. Robust malt-accented grainy taste with subtle fruity accents; sweet malty and slightly syrupy finish with a warming and well-integrated alcoholic note. 31.XII.07

Big thanks to madsburg for shipping me this ’06 vintage as a bonus beer! Yes! Pours clear amber with lasting light tan head. The aroma is sweet malts and caramel and then rolling into prunes, plums, smooth ripe cherries and raisins. The taste is much the same with plums, raisins and prunes followed by sweet malts and a modest level of caramel candy goodness. It ends a bit overly sweet. Yum.

courtesy of ibrew2or3 2006 vintage, pours copper light, white head. Aroma and flavors, caramel, butterscotch, sweet dark sugar, grainy mouthfeel, roasted finish. Fund this one to be light on the palate. lots of malt goodness, especially this nice caramel, bready/buttery finish.
