(Draught at Bishop’s Arms, Vasagatan, Stockholm, 10 Jan 2008) Golden yellow colour with huge, white head. Malty, grassy nose with notes of citrus, toffee and hay. Malty, fruity taste with a nice dose of grassy, slightly citrussy hops and a hint of lime. Dry. Fairly nice lager with a promising, but slightly modest, hop character.

100ml on draught at the brewpub. Served light chilled. Dark amber with great clarity and a filmy foam. Light floral aroma. Flavour with hints of hops, but the main character is more on the caramel malty side. Moderate mouthfeel (13.01.2007).

Draught at brewpub (25 cL) and bottle (60 cL). Clear and amber colour. Off white head. dominated by cascade hops (clearly american inspired brew - I thought of Brooklyn brewery at the first sip). Bitter finish. Gets into a slightly soapy taste and feel as it gets warmer. Vintage bottled looses some of the soapyness - actually better.

600 ml bottle, a gift from Tom, thanks! ABV is 5.2%. American-inspired "pre-prohibition" lager, brewed with Cascade hops. Deep golden colour, a slight haziness, moderate but rich head. Cascade, flowers and honey in the aroma. Moderately malty flavour with hints of heather honey and caramel, but not really sweet. Moderate but pleasant hops throughout. Hoppy aftertaste lasts "forever". Not a bad beer this one!

Dark clear amber with almost no head (tiny quick fading white) Sweet malt and hoppy aroma. A bit watery body. little metallic. Short slight bitter finish. Again this is very ordinary and allround from Nørrebro Bryghus. Brews made for the mainstream! Easy drinkable & OK pleasant!

Early 2006 bottle from Engelsmann, carefully sipped while pondering over Henry James at 2 in the morning on 8/18/06.
Small, fluffy/fizzy, off-white head is formed of artificial carbonation, with a fair amount of filtration, just as in the original. It is quick to recede, but is held at cover, with only tiny patches of lacing produced. Deep amber-caramel colored body has a rusty highlight to it, with ferrous-earth tints as well. Plenty of bubbles course up through the liquid, but settle out rapidly.
Delightful cookies sweeten the nose immediately, but a husky vienna malt is quick to provide an edge, not allowing the malt sugars to indulge themselves and soften things excessively so. Light melanoidins provide a piquant berry-like tartness/acidity, while hay-like, earthy, dry, hops pepper the sides of the nose. Baked brown bread, some earthiness and toasted notes continue on, in the finish, with a strong sense of sourdough. But the boisterous fruits keep things lively, and the sweet, cookieish malts are never far-removed. Medium to medium-high strength of aroma, no alcohol, some moderate yeast crispness/mineral-like notes.
A combination of sourdough, crusty pumpernickel and cookieish malts invade the palate upon first sip, but a zesty carbonation drives the sweetness apart, and the rich, acidic fruitiness and husky vienna malts complete a massive drying effect. Crisp yeast-like mineral notes attempt to cleanse the palate on the end, and while, perhaps, a bit too much acidity, relative to the beer’s gravity, is apparent, you can certainly not say it is ever too sweet. Cascade-hop bitterness is notable, though plays little part, other than to add a light floral quality. Carbonation is probably the weak point, though nothing worse/different than Brooklyn Lager. Bubbly carbonation is rather loose, with some ligh wateriness on the end. Carbonation comes out of the liquid too quickly, but some stickiness can be seen in the residual sugars. No alcohol or off-flavors whatsoever.
A near-perfect rendition of Brooklyn lager, which does not seem to improve upon the original, but nor does it fall short. No doubt this beer would be much improved in draught form.
