Our Brown Ale is the first beer we started making at the brewery in 2001, after making soft drinks since 1997. Fortunately it was such a success that it won an organic gold medal in 2002. After that, there was no holding us back in our beer adventure. Brown Ale is a full-bodied, creamy beer made with American hops. They lend the beer a delightful, yet discreet citrus-fruit aroma alongside caramelised and toasted malt. It tastes sweet and rich with notes of toffee, chocolate, coffee and liquorice with a mellow sweetness and mild, hoppy bitterness.

330ml bottle as Ørbæk Nyhavn Dark Ale, at Nyhavn Færgekro. Crystal clear, mahogany coloured body, bright naked surface. Semi-sweet malts to the nose. Slightly roasted taste with dark caramel follow by mild malt-bitter endnotes. Ok accompaniment to my delicious herring buffet (Copenhagen 02.11.2011).

Bottled. Deep amber colour with small head. Aroma is caramel malts, some slight floral hops, earth as well as mild burnt sugar and dark dry fruits. Flavour is quite much the same along with some nuts and mild spicy notes. Also quite ryebready after it warms up a bit.

Bottled as "Nyhavns Dark Ale"
Clear amber color, small steady beige head. Rye bready aroma, a bit caramelly malty too. Caramelly, berry-like with slightly ashy hops. A bit like Finnish Christmas Vienna (although this is an ale).
