Bah Humbug is a brew using not just the traditional malted barley and hops, but also a big sprinkling of cinnamon. The effect of the cinnamon is to give a spicy, almost banana-like flavour as often found on German wheat beers; and this blends with the sweet-honeyed flavours of the Maris Otter barley to create a beer with all the fruit flavours of mince pies, Christmas Pudding and Christmas cake all rolled into one.

Poured from bottle, faint aroma that smells malty. Taste is sweet but I’m not noticing the cinnamon. I’ve had better Christmas ales.

Bottle. Medium brown color with orange tones. Tall, off-white head. Highly fragrant of fruit, spices including cinnamon, amber malts, and hops. A touch of honey as well. Sweetish aroma. Sweet, malty flavor, lots of dark fruits, cinnamon, honey, and vanilla. Rich and malty. Orange, cherry, raisins, figs. Quite bitter finish, though not with really any hop flavor. A touch of alcohol there too, but a dry, bitter end. Very interesting shift from rich and sweet to bitter. Full flavored and interesting, though you couldn’t drink too much. A tad cloying.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange copepr with a medium frothy light tan head with good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a caramel malt with raisin and wheat. Thin mouthfeel with a bitter malt with caramel with a dry finish. A decent English strong ale from Wychwood.
