Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8.5
Deep copper and bronze coloured body with an orange glow and a thick, three to four centimetre tall off-white head that stays afloat for a long time but leaves a subtle lace on the sides. Aroma of citrus, flowers, light tropical fruits, a hint of grassiness and a good bit of both sugars and noticeable alcohol. Medium to Full-bodied; Velvety, smooth malt notes dominate with a creamy, almost nitrogenated feel, but the hops hit hard soon afterwards and leave a big bitterness near the end, but a lot fruits and complexity. Aftertaste shows some bitterness from the alpha acids with a lot of grass and resinous notes with some grapefruity flavours, all ending with a pleasant blast of sweetness and a lot of malt - very nicely balanced with a great lactose bite and some pungent alpha acids. Overall, this one is great - a very nice, well-rounded almost Imperial IPA with a great velvety texture and some pleasant sweetness on top of the good hop aspects and great malt balance. A great start to my experience with Wiley Roots and for my beer here in Colorado on this short trip! I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Argonaut Wine in Denver, Colorado on 07-May-2021 for US$4,49, brewed on 02-March-2201 sampled a few minutes later here in my hotel room in Denver, Colorado on 07-May-2021.
