500ml bottle from House of Bruer - mad bastard of a gusher, deep brown body, off white Mr Whippy top. Big caramel and toffee start, strong smoked butterscotch, figs and dates. Bit of a medicinal herbiness there, but still a good interesting brew.

Bottled 500ml. -3pack from the brewery (Braveheart, Atholl and Old Remedial). Dark brown coloured, medium sized pale beige head, acidity in the nose. Toasted malt, fruits, caramel, and again acidity. Unfortunately all three beers were infected more or less.

Bottle picked up in Pitlochry. It pours darkest red - brown with a medium beige head. The aroma is rich, malt - driven, dried fruits, fruit cake, malt loaf, jammy and earth. The taste is initially dry, very fruity, tangy dark fruits aplenty, plum, fig, jam, raspberry pip, vinous and wood with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Old style fruity tang ale. I sort of like it.

On tap @ Moulin. Pours a colour with a red hue and a thin crema head. The nose has demerara sugar and an earthy note. The palate is medium to full bodied with a rich tangy texwture and a bitter finish. Overall, good example of a strong British ale.

On tap (at the brewpub): Deep ruby-amber coloured; moderate malty-fruity nose - traces of raisins and port - ; medium bodied, moderate sweet-bitter flavour; sweet-bitter finish as well, becoming hoppier in the aftertaste. A fine, well balanced brew
