On tap at Mikkeller Kiosk/Bar (Tokyo), pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is on the brutal side, with heavy charred roast, iodine/soy sauce, perfumey bourbon barrels, and booze. Flavour is much the same, with a rather difficult-to-palate charred, perfumey character from the interplay of the roast and bourbon. Lots of soy sauce and iodine. Either the barrels are ruining this or the base beer just isn't solid enough — or both I guess. Not infected and not even that bad, just rather harsh and difficult.

Black with a thick beige head. Aroma of bourbon, oak, caramel, vanilla, fudge, toffee, milk chocolate and booze. Flavour is heavy sweet. Full bodied with alcohol warmth in the finish and soft carbonation.

Aroma bourbon, plasticine. Taste similar, sharp, but nasty. Lightly roasty acid reflux.

Tap at Burger Joint New York, Singapore. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a big lasting frothy tan head and some broken lace. The aroma is roasty malt, chocolate, caramel, vanilla. The flavour is moderate to strong sweet, with a smooth, rich, oily, liqouirce chocolate, light dry coffee palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation. Very sweet initially, which seemed to fade into liqouirce bitterness as the beer warmed. I have to say that I preferred its sweet side.

Tap at Takumiya. Think back with lace. Nose is vanilla, chocolate, light bourbon. As Tim notes, the bourbon character is quite subdued. Full, sweet chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, light soy. A bit too sweet for me. Nice but not as special as Imperiality once was.

dark brown color. The nose is modestly subdued for a 9.2% BA imperial stout with some vanilla, chocolate, dark fruit and oak notes. Nice mouth feel, the bourbon doesn’t shine, but more like dark fruit, chocolate and vanilla across the palate. Slightly warming finish. Medium carbonation. Nice stuff and if you don’t like over the top BA beers, you’ll like this, but I would prefer more edge
