THE BUZZ is a hop-inspired American red featuring all American hops– Amarillo, Simcoe and Mosaic, and boasting a big-ass malt profile. Layers of rounded red malt orbit a generous slue of piney, spicy and floral hoppy character.

Can at the Beer Bank, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a hazy reddish amber with a short-lived frothy off white head. The aroma is caramel malt, treacle, light tropical fruit hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet, with a crisp, toffee caramel, light resin, hop bitter palate and a long bitter finish that goes on forever. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

From a 375ml can on 17/2/2019 (ABV listed as 6.0% rather than 6.5%). Pours a clearish dark amber with a big foamy head. Has a light caramel malt aroma. On the sip, it's really full flavoured and almost intense. Lots of caramel and toffee, with some dried and dark fruits, and spices, followed by some big hops with plenty of pine and resin. Has an almost creamy mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Really more a red IPA than an amber ale. I didn't have any great expectations with this, but it's actually a really tasty and impressive drop.

The aroma brings out passionfruit, bread crumbs, honey, a little peach, some musk and a pinch of grapefruit. The grapefruit is strong on tasting, along with plenty of pine, pepper and some peach too. It’s a little thin though it has good length. A nice beer, but not a great one.

Bottle. Clear amber with an inch of pale beige head. Heady aroma of toffee, pine, lush tropical fruit, spices. Very sweet but clean, with toffee, resin, earthy mango. Lots of hop aromatics (mosaic or simcoe or both at a guess) but bitterness struggles a bit. A bit of citrus and pepper gradually come through at the end too. Just too sweet for me.
