He is a ruler, an overlord, a top dog, a crowned head.
In the realm of all that is tart and sour, Jelly King reigns supreme.
Rather than choosing between sour or hoppy, we decided to create a beer that would be both at the same time. Showcasing the aromatic benefits of a generous dry hop, harnessing the prowess of lactic acidity, and coming to a can near you without a pesky slumber in oak, Jelly King is the fermented embodiment of immediate gratification.
What it smells like, what it tastes like, what it looks like: Jelly King combines bright and juicy hop aromatics with a refreshingly tart base, and is bursting with notes of fuzzy peach, tangerine, and grapefruit.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent local release. Pours slightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and rocky white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big lightly tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, green apple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, white wine, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with light notes of lacto/musty funk, white vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, green apple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, white wine, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with light notes of lacto/musty funk, white vinegar, and yeast earthiness. Light lactic tartness, pine/herbal/grassy bitterness, and yeast spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, green apple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, white wine, guava, berry, citrus peel/zest, hay, straw, herbal, floral, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light funk/vinegar, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and pale malt flavors; with an awesome malt/tartness balance; and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic, and fairly crisp/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.6%. Overall this is an outstanding dry hopped sour/wild ale. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, citrus/tropical hops, and pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; with the modestly acidic/drying finish, not overly lactic. Awesome balance of Brett/Lacto complexity and juicy Citra hops; with a great pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a hazy gold with a finger of foam that lingers. Huge dry-hopped forward nose with citrus, pineapple and mango notes. Very fruit-forward nose with funky fruit undertones. Dry and fruit-forward on the palate. No sweetness, just a lovely dried tropical fruit character throughout with the hops really shining as well. Smooth, low abv, highly complex fruit and tart beer. When done to this level, I can drink this style all day. One to Bellwoods!
