Featuring El Dorado & Centennial Hops from CLS Farms
Behind every great beer are amazing stories of all the people, places and ingredients that culminate in what you have in your hand. The Stone Farm to Can Series is our heartfelt tribute to the dedicated farmers who cultivate the hops that help bring our beers to life. Each beer in this series features hops grown at a single specific farm as our way of paying homage to their harvest. Many of these growers breed and develop their own varieties, like CLS Farms in Moxee, Washington did with El Dorado hops, named for the mythical hidden City of Gold. Moxee lies nestled in Yakima Valley, the very real paradise of hop production in the American Pacific Northwest. Stone Moxee Gold IPA is loaded with Centennial and of course El Dorado hops, all sourced from the fruitful bines of CLS Farms. The valley itself may be mostly green, but its bounty of hops are as good as gold.
This beer is the first in our Farm To Can Series, highlighting our hop growers that obviously play a critical role in our beers here at Stone Brewing. This IPA features hops from CLS Farms in Moxee, Washington. CLS Farms is a large grower of the amazing Centennial, a classic hop found in several Stone Brewing beers, most notably Stone IPA. El Dorado is a newer hop developed by CLS Farms, featured in Stone Delicious IPA. Our brewers paired both hops together to form a seemingly simple but amazing West Coast IPA that celebrates collaboration and the bond between grower and brewer.

Solid west coast IPA. Probably not super fresh but that's the good thing about these west coasters - they last more than 5 seconds. Lime and some peel. Clear golden poor with decent head. Bitter end. Can.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 2/11/2019. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, watermelon, red apple, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, onion, green pepper, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, watermelon, red apple, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, onion, green pepper, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, mango, watermelon, red apple, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, onion, green pepper, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, light honey/toast, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly crisp/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is an excellent IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/earthy hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and fairly crisp/refreshing to drink for the ABV, with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish, not overly aggressive. Awesome Centennial/El Dorado profile. Very vibrant, dank, earthy, and fairly juicy hop complexity; with a great clean balancing pale malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness from crisp resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on West coast style example as expected.

[live rate] 12oz can pours with a crystal clear deep gold body that has a thin copper hued core and supports a light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a bouquet of floral hoppiness as well as thin sharp lemon note and then ripe green lime peel. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of bitter floral hops, bitter citrus and then a moderate degree of earthy tea like hop flavor. The flavors mingle back and forth into the finish. I'm liking how the earthy tea note helps ground the brighter more bitter hops. Nice stuff.

Draft pint on 21st March 2019 at the High Park Tap House in Califronia. Golden body, clean, clear and bright, on top a snow white crown. Hoppy brew with a resinous, piney nature from start to finish. Really enjoyed it.

The Aromas are on the mild side, tropical fruit hops with a bit of weed and some caramel malt. Flavors are like nose, Bittersweet and nothing special. A decent but unremarkable American pale ale.

Canned February 4th enjoy by June 4th.
Pours a clear light gold with oodles of foam that sticks around. Lacing? Yep.
Pine, grapefruit citrus nose with also notes of melon and caramel malt. Good aromas.
Melon and grapefruit bitterness in the taste. I get some grass in the finish, caramel malt sweetness throughout the session. Some dank tones.
Mouthfeel can get somewhat harsh at times; I will blame the rather aggressive melon.
Good brew but not a back to back drinker for me.
