Azzurra is our shiny new Italian Pilsner. An Italian Pilsner is a pilsner that’s been dry-hopped, typically with continental hop varieties.

Inspired by an al fresco Tipopils (and maybe a cheeky pizza-side Peroni) on a wee jaunt to Naples earlier this year. We used some maize to lighten things up and some incredible Spalter Select from @locherhopfen in Tettnang. Azzurra is lush, more fruit forward and softer than our core Pilsner.

Can direct from Newbarns. It pours clear very pale yellow with a dissipating fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, doughy, bready, lovely honey vibes, honeyed grain, cereal, touch of nuttiness and a twist of citrus. The taste is super crispy, dry, snappy, clean, snap of bitterness, grassy, straw, slightly herbal, floral, white bread, honey cake, cereal, nuttiness and fleeting spice with a dry, grassy finish. Lighter end of average body and fine, prickly. Lovely stuff. Good depth for the style and excellent balance. Super quenching.
