Tap at Hop Seed, Kyoto. Poured a clear golden colour with a frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, like citrus, woody hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, with a crisp, light fruity, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

On tap at 336, 450ml for the absurd price of 1000 yen. golden color almost clear thin fine white head good lacing. Aroma is grainy lots of rice and cereals and quite strong bittering hops background. Carbonated m medium body, long extra dry finish a bit sour quite bitter and after all well structured but more lacking the flavors of American IPAs, otherwise good but not exactly worth this price.

Poured from the tap at Beer House Jive. Golden yellow with white head. Bready wheat malt, citrusy lemon hops, a little astringent, balance seems slightly off.

Tap at Bungalow. Deep gold with orange tints and a fine head. Light citrus nose, light bready malts. Some wheat I think, a bit creamy, lemony. Lemony flavor, maybe Citra hops, crisp but a bit astringent, seemingly from the malts, grapefruit, lemon. A bit rough. Ok.

On tap at Bungalow, it’s nice to see Kyoto Machiya releasing beers beyond their core 3 beers in kegs. My expectations are low as an IPA is far outside their balliwick of German style beers. Sold out! They tapped a new keg for me, saved! 5.5% a light IPA, a slightly opaque gold with 1 cm of foam. Very light citrus aroma. Very fine carbonation, grapefruit but I am getting some rough flavors, mostly just a one note beer of bitter grapefruit. Complex it is not. It’s an alright first effort.----march 2014--- Hannari has gotten better super light gold. Less messed up crisp biscuit plus citrusy hop notes. Thin for an IPA but an improvement.
