Very hazy golden coloured body with a very large, eight centimetre tall pink and rose coloured head with hints of white head tan, all atop a golden tint with millions of fast-moving bubbles. Aroma of tea, lemons, grass, hay, wheat, bread, yeast and more bread - strong. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong tea and grassy flavours up front with a lot of lemons, herbs, grain, wheat and smooth mellow yeast notes and sediment flavours coming through near the end. Aftertaste shows some rosehips, grass, lemons, flowers, hay, wheat, yeast and a bunch of light caster sugar flavours as well. Overall, a nice and dry wheat beer that is sort of german-styled, but not hitting the style exactly - and slightly showing off as a wheat ale or an American styled Hef. Regardless, while it wasn’t a sublime beer, it was a good beer and worthwhile on carrying back a bit less than halfway around the world. I sampled this 440 mL bottle purchased from TOPS in Cape Quarter (Green Point) in Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa on 1-August-2015 for ZAR29,99 sampled at home in Washington on the other side of the world as our summer is ending and South Africa’s will be starting soon.
