Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours an oily black appearance with a nice, dark brown head. The aroma smells like oatmeal, cocoa powder, vanilla syrup, malted milk, and dessert. Oily texture. Not overly boozy. Tons of chocolate, a little coffee, lots of vanilla, roasted malts. Some lightly piney, moderate bitterness on the finish. Pretty well balanced. Not overly sweet. Clean. Fun to drink if you want a dessert beer.

2019-08-24, can from The Gull, North Vancouver, 8-4-8-4-17=41
Black colour. Roasty, bold, chocolate shaving dominates, quite bitter; it's a bold Vienna coffee, with a hint of vanilla.
In parallel with the Vanilla Shake, this is bolder and more interesting.

2015-09-15, tasting at Matt's, bottle, 8-4-8-4-15=39
Black color with small brown head. Strong but lean body; it's an Imperial Stout with excellent chocolate malt flavor, but the twist here, however they did it, adds a very strong note of old woman perfume, talk, powder room, intoxicating (but I take just one point away for that).
Controversial, but very good.

330mL bottle, sent from yourilevesque (thanks a lot, Youri), pours a deep motor oil black with a small tan / light brown head. Nose is rich, with loads of cocoa screaming out upfront, with oats and light roasted malt further down. Flavour is very rich, with intense velvety rich chocolate that is so luxurious. This note dominates without being harsh in any way. Pretty much the pinnacle of chocolate imperial stouts I've had up until now. Phenomenal.

Poured into a teku showing impossible pitch black and oily with no head despite an aggressive pour. The nose shows very subtle notes of dark roasted cocoa and adzuki bean. The palate shows almost no carbonation and an oily thick body. The palate immediately shows a lot of dark pure/rich chocolate with hints of adzuki bean sweetness underneath. Finish is still intense dark chocolate. Flavors are concentrated and emphasized even more with its oily thick body. The 12% alcohol shows itself at the very end on the linger. Not sure about cocoa shake, but definitely a lot of cocoa.

The beer is black with very thin brown edges. Small light brown head. Very dark beer. The aroma is overflowing with fudgey, chocolatey goodness. It’s brownies with chocolate sauce. Some caramel, pretty strong vanilla note. Very mild roast. Taste is sweet and delicious. Extremely smooth. No harsh edges. Mild booze heat. Just tons of delicious chocolate and creamy vanilla. Finishes pretty clean for the sweet taste. Fairly thick body. Excellent execution of a sweet imperial stout.

Bottle @ Dansken. Pours murky oily pitch black with a very thin ring of mocha trace that’s gone almost instantaneously. Smell is malty with roasted malts, pumpernickel bread, burnt caramel, toasted oatmeal, vanilla fudge, mud cake, heavy oily high quality cocoa powder, espresso coffee, sweet liquorice candy, moist soil and alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty, slightly earthy and tiny boozy. Mouthfeel is fat, soft, oily, round, slightly roasted astringent, boozy and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with roasted malts, burnt caramel, mud cake, vanilla fudge, oily cocoa powder, dark roast coffee, ammonium chloride, moist soil and alcohol. Mud cake in a bottle and I’m talking the kind of mud cake I love with insane cocoa powder usage. Yummy!

330 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet.
Black, oily liquid, with a small, dense, creamy, coffee colored head.
Aroma with loads of melting chocolate and cocoa, subtle coffee and little liquorice notes.
Wonderful, balanced taste, also with loads of dark chocolate and cocoa, but with more coffee and liquorice than in the nose, some wood, slight dark fruits.
Full, creamy mouthfeel, with just enough carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter-sweet, dry, with coffee, cocoa, chocolate, liquorice, wood, subtle alcohol warmth.

Very tasty! Chocolate and cocoa everywhere, but greatly balanced, never too sweet. Drinks surpringly easy, considering the ABV and the increased sweetness. Overall just another characterful, world class Imperial Stout by Mikkeller, but not the best from the Beer Geek range.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Stas & Vova. Black with some brown foam. Aroma of cocoa, chocolate, a bit vegetal and woody. Sweet flavor with chocolate, cocoa, a bit of caramel, and a bitterish finish. Full-bodied.
