Poesiat & Kater’s Van Vollenhoven Extra Stout is based on a recipe from the original Van Vollenhoven brewery that existed in Amsterdam during the 18th century. It has a rich full malt body with roasted flavor notes. This was the top selling beer in the Netherlands in the second half of the 19th century and was shipped all over the world.

Poesiat & Kater's Van Vollenhoven Extra Stout is our flagship beer and we are proud to be making it once again for beer lovers today.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 28 Aug 2019) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with chocolate, coffee and dark rye bread. Malty, roasted taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, liquorice and a generous roasty bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Solid and well made stout. Very nice.

Fles 33cl thuis. Zoetig, roasted malts, bitters, licht fizzy, wat caramel, koffiedrab, bruine suiker, zoethout, goed droog. Zoet en bitter wisselen elkaar af. Lijkt op Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (Nigeria). (30-12-2019).
