Once upon a time there stood five Gornals in the Industrial heartlands, but long years of strife and quarrelling led to a mighty fight that came to be known as the Battle of the Gornals.
The most accessible of Fownes Brewing’s beers, UGA is easy drinking, balanced but still overflowing with floral and citrus flavours.

Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford (not listed in RateBeer) Pours a hazy lemon yellow with a small white head. Good lacing and some sediment in the body. Has an aroma of fruit salad – more specifically the juice in tinned fruit salad ! In the mouth it is sweet and watery with oranges and apples. Fruit and a hint of ginger in the finish. It’s OK, but somewhat weird.

Cask handpull at GBBF 2018. Clear pale gold thanks to Stephen . I get a bit of ginger on aroma and in the flavour. Cracking condition. Soft carbonation is outstanding. Good subtle ginger. But it's there.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a crystal clear yellow straw colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is grainy malt, yeast, light dry hop. The flavour is light bitter with a light, watery, malt, dry woody hop bitter palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation. Way too light and watery. Lacks any defining flavours.
