Super deep dark brown coloured body with a nice two to three centimetre off-white and light tan coloured head that stays afloat fairly nicely. Aroma of crisp molasses, grain, roasted malt, licorice, bitter coffee, earth and some smoked peat - quite strong, but a good indication of the character. Medium-bodied; Some cream and lactose notes jump out along with some molasses, caramelised sugars, toffee, treacle, raisins and a hefty dose of coffee and cacao elements - with some deeper bitter flavours at the end, perhaps from some specialty grains like rye or oatmeal, but this really does taste more like a smoked beer (lightly). Aftertaste is pungent with some alcohol, deep roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and a bunch of earthy, peated malts with some light nuttiness flavours as well, but the cream and lactose are unmistakable and showing some nice round flavours, especially at the end, which had been potent on the bitterness and sharp notes. Overall, a nice and super flavourful beer that shows a lot of nice components while being slightly sweet, robust, full of malt and best yet - akin to the name/style they were intending on this one. I sampled this pint-sized, sixteen ounce can, purchased from Total Wine (the Forum) in Selma, Texas on 14-October-2019 for US$3,79 sampled at home in Washington on 11-February-2020.

Can. pours dark brown with a tan head. Roasted malt, coffee, rye, dark chocolate notes. Wow, this is exceptional.
