Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 6.5
Crisp and clear copper and amber coloured body with a thinnish, single to two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of citrus fruits, apricots, caramelised sugars, a dash of nuts and some earthy grainy malts, but the apricots and light citrus fruits show strongest. Medium-bodied; Pungent apricot and stone fruit flavours show at first with a light grassy and herbal quality, but the hops and bitterness are most pungent from the citrus fruits, with a light alpha acid punch noticeable. Aftertaste shows the grassy and herbal punch with a lot of bitterness and a dry quality from the malts and of course the hops, but only a dash of citrus fruits come out at the end, with a lot of malts and bitterness. Overall, a decent enough IPA with a lot of malts and a very biscuity and dry herbal flavour showing strongest, but some lighter hops and crisp grassy notes make this a tad more complex that initially thought. Decent to try, but not a great beer, nor one worth searching for. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Whole Foods in Charleston, South Carolina (West Ashley) on 28-December-2021 for US$2,49 sampled in my hotel room here in Charlottesville, Virginia on 19-February-2022.
