Cask at The Red Lion, Gatwick North Terminal. It pours clear amber - brown with a medium off-white head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, caramel, cola cubes, biscuit, ripe ginger tang, festive spice, cloves, nutmeg and burnt fruit cake. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, rivita, spicy, biscuit, tannin, old leather sofa, touch of astringency, bit of pithy citrus, burnt and fruit cake with a dry, earthy finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Can't say I am a big winter ale fan at the best of times. Very earthy and rather spicy on the aroma. So-so festive ale.
